Do we have any budding engineers out there in the Society?

The Institute of Mechanical Engineers has launched a competition to design and build a 10.25 inch gauge locomotive. The set of rules are available here http://www.imeche.org/knowledge/industries/railway/RailwayChallenge
The first of a number of planned entries is from Interfleet Technology based in Derby has been undergoing private testing at the Rudyard Lake Steam Railway www.rlsr.org .
Obviously at this stage the details of this entry are confidential but we can say its a Bo-Bo and very quick off the mark!

If the competition goes well then it may become a regular event. Any society members up for a challenge? Testing facilities would be available at Rudyard. This also applies by arrangement for any loco if you want to try a 1.5 mile run!

This is a great idea and good for our sort of railways and the budding engineers. Perhaps the society could offer a prize for say the best looking entry or most unusual as well?
